Aquarium by SmallCreationsByMel Aquarium by SmallCreationsByMel
Hi Guys!

The aquarium is finally finished! I added a gauze top that has silver butterflies on it and tied a bow around it.  The bow took a while to tie since it was so small lol.  It also kept slipping off, but it’s done now! yay!

Hope you guys like this piece! :)

Here's a process overview I put together if you're interested: Aquarium Process by SmallCreationsByMel

materials: polymer clay, resin, nail polish (for eyes since it was sparkly), pebbles, sponge thing (for the "algae"), glue

size of bottle: roughly 1 inch tall, .5 inches in diameter (that piece of wood is a toothpick)

This is wonderful Mel. Having just returned from a snorkelling holiday in the Red Sea this has evoked a lot of happy memories. Love your corals.

This came out really really nice. Your attention to detail is amazing. I'm gonna try to shop around for those pebbles because I'd love to try this myself :)

It's so awesome! It came out so well. :D I love all the bright colors, and that seahorse just looks fantastic. And so does the coral. And the yellow fish. Really, really good job on this! :)

Thank you so much!  The problem I came upon while making this was the resin seams!! I usually do different layers of resin so I can alternate the height of each part, but once the resin dries, you can see a horizontal line of where I did the layers.  I still haven't figured out how to avoid that yet >.< (If I put the pieces in before the resin dries, the parts eventually sink to the bottom lol).  The seams are preventing me from selling these lol.

PS  Try Googling "tie bow using fork"  I know those aren't on a bow around something but I'm sure you could manage to adapt the method.

Thank you! Oh yeah! I've seen that bow tutorial! Didn't think of it at all while I was tying the bow lol.  I'm glad this piece turned out well!

I've done that too - struggled with something I needn't have :iconshakestickplz:
After all the work you put into it (and the excited anticipation) I'm glad too.

AHHHH OMG IT TURNED OUT WONDERFUL
my vial turned out a mess because the fish sank and fell over T^T
that day's work on the reef all to a waste hhh

Oh nooo :(.  I usually glue the fish down first, let the glue dry then pour more resin on top.  I'm trying to find a way to put the pieces in eaiser >.< (sometimes you can see seams for different levels of resin, so annoying!)

That's a good idea!
YES THE SEAMS ARE SO ANNOYING HHH
