Fun Tip Friday #29 by SmallCreationsByMel Fun Tip Friday #29 by SmallCreationsByMel
Here's a plate tutorial as requested by many. I hope you guys like it! This only shows how I make my plates when I do make it myself. I'm sure there are probably many other ways to make it and I would not say I'm good at making plates. = I would need to practice more. XD

Those are very nice!! Its almost the same method I use. I roll two rolls, one smaller than the other, slighty squish them into a disc shape, stick them together, and use a small glass bottle I have to squish down on both sides. If you try this, you wanna use the bottle on the bottom side of the plate to squish it a little before flipping over for the final squish to make the plate middle part. Does that make sense?? lol
Just sharing how I do it :)

This is a nice little HOWTO. Thanks!

Did you ever try the grey Sculpey? It's stiffer than the regular stuff.

Thank you so much for showing everyone how to make plates, I'm going to try my best with sculpey (because it's all I have). Your Fun Tip Fridays are the best. You're my favorite person on DA because of these! And, you shouldn't need to worry so much about the exposure of your camera... as long as people get the general idea and can see what you are doing, it has served it's purpose...! And this one definitely has! =^-^=

You're quite welcome!
And thanks for the link!
I found a little ball of clay on a piece of paper at my work station the other day and it had grease stains on it, the clay was so hard I threw it out, heh.. I guess I just didn't put the two together! ^-^ Whelp, now I know! Thanks so much!!! <3

I literally went :squee: irl. Thank you so much for this!

In the past I've tried baking soda rather than baby powder for this and it was a terrible idea. It left a gritty design and some of my older, unpainted plates now have 'salt' sparkles on them. Even with wiping/washing. Just weird, but pretty.

I'll def give plate making another try now. Never had a perfect small cookie cutter but now I know where to find them. Also, I'll be sure to use a diff clay blend - you're right about white Sculpey and I can't believe I never thought to try a diff brand.

Thank you very much for your tut. :glomp:
