Some WIP Shots: Goldfish by SmallCreationsByMel Some WIP Shots: Goldfish by SmallCreationsByMel
Here's the finished shot: Goldfish by SmallCreationsByMel

Many of you will probably ask me what resin I use.  I bought mine from Hong Kong so I don't really have a brand to give you.  It was in a big jar, but in order for me to bring it back easier to the USA, I put them in smaller bottles so I don't have the label anymore.  I do plan to try different resins from Michael's soon.  I believe the one I use is the epoxy "type" resin.  So, sorry I can't give you more information on the exact brand I use.

Feel free to ask me questions!

Follow me on Instagram for randomness + and earlier WIP shots! :D (I'm actually a lot more active on instagram than on dA cause it's easier to post).

How did you manage to cover up the hole left by the pin?

Firstly I love that very technical term that you use, "smoosh". It is so clearly understandable. Mel, you have excelled yourself here. This is simply beautiful. You are not creating as much as you used to but the stuff that you are doing is so good. The detail here is amazing. You have set targets that some of us can only dream of emulating.

I used a ball point tool and dragged it over and over on the tail :)

Very cute. Love the tut. I have to ask, have you considered making betta versions? Longer fins to play around with! :D

Yeah! I've been considering trying to make a betta :D.  They come in so many colors! It'd look so pretty if it turns out right! haha

Half the fun is in making it! (not always, but we can't let our audience think otherwise ;) )

I'm sure whatever you make would turn out awesome. :squee:

I'm trying to work up the courage to make itty bitty goldfish for ponds next. lol I'm trying to model them off mine since they're basically just big soft balls with flowing fins. XD Not sure if I'll manage to get the little faces on them though.

A beta fish would be awesome! And you have a ton of color variations to work with. :)

that sounds like fun! Good luck with everything! :D I want to make more but man resin goes so fast haha.  The goldfish project took a whole bottle of resin, one whole bottle! haha crazy

Wow, a whole bottle? I didn't think the fish and bottle were that big. How many ounces of resin do you get in a bottle?

Mine was a small bottle lol. I'd say part A was 2 oz and part B was 1 oz so together I only had 3oz in there.

How big are your bottles?

The ones I buy are 16oz. I didn't realize yours were so small and was thinking you had the larger ones. I was blown away with the amount you'd have to use. lol

Yeah! I go through resin so fast it's crazy >.< since I make a lot of water related things lol.  I like my resin, even though it's a smaller bottle because it has no smell.

How have you been lately?  Seems like you've been really busy preparing for shows huh? :D
